                ** UPDATE **
- I am happy to report Daisy is back in the woods ones again lighting up the night with her amazing mouth. I cant tell where this has slowed her down any at all! If you ask me, I think she has gotten faster! Whatever the case im extatic to have her in the woods with me again!

On 9/2/07 Daisy fell victim to a hit & run while pleasure hunting in Henderson, NC. After hearing her harrowing cries we rushed to her to find her laying beside the road crying frantically with Star by her side. When we first got to her there didnt appear to be any damage, she was only toating her right leg but after loading her on the tailgate we saw what was really rong. Her leg appeard to be broken and she was bleeding severly from a puncture wound on her leg. I was heartbroken. After a vet could not be located in Henderson Lefty & I raced back home. All the way back home we tried to locate a vet but they were all on vacation. Being Labor Day Weekend everyone was gone celabrating. My Mom & Dad met us in South Hill after a vet had been located in Greensville, NC. The whole way there I was usless, sitting in the front seat bawling my eyes out to see my daisy in such condition. When we arrived in Greensville the vet met us at the door and quickly rushed Daisy to the back. We sat in the waiting room covered in blood with me still a wreck. Abought a hour later the vet came in. Xrays had been taken of her leg and our worst nightmare confurmed. Both bones in Daisy's right leg had been broken. All the vet could do was splint her up and send her to a surgeon. She wanted to keep daisy overnight so with driving home out of the question we got a motel room right across from the vets office and stayed the night. The next day we picked daisy up all dandaged and drugged up and took her home. After a visit to my vet she was to see a surgeon monday afternoon. I was praying she wouldnt have to have pins put in, but I knew better. After Dr. Buck looked at the Xrays my other nightmare was confirmed. Not pins, but a bone plate and screws would have to be put in. Since the surgery Daisy has been living it up on the couch, recovering nicely. Tho her competition life may be over, the vet assured me she will still be able to pleasure hunt. Over a month now after that terrible night Daisy is ready to go again. Everynight we go she is the first one out the door and on the tailgate waiting to be collard up. If all goes aswell as it is now, Daisy may have one or two competition hunts left in her somewere.
